Habitat:

B. pendula is suitable for light, medium and heavy soils. The plant can tolerates strong winds but not exposure from salt laden winds.

Distribution:

The silver birch grows can be found  from western Europe eastwards Mongolia and China, and southwards to the mountains of the Caucasus and northern Iran, Iraq and Turkey.

Description:

A tree that can grow up to 30 metres; with a silvery-white trunk; branches pendulous at the ends.
