Habitat and Description:
This species comes from rocky and grassy places in the Pyrenees to northeast Spain, Slovenia, and Croatia. It prefers full sun. Flowers are blue. The narrow grasslike linear leaves appear late autumn to to winter and the flowers spring to early summer.

Background:
Sometimes this bulb is listed as hyacinthus amethystinus and has common names such as Amethyst hyacinth or Spanish hyacinth. Brimeura is named for a 16th century French horticulturalist Marie de Brimeur.
