Habitat:
The preference is dappled sunlight and a fertile loamy soil with abundant organic matter. This plant develops early and can resist moderate frost without damage.

Distribution:
Eastern provinces of Canada and eastern states of the USA and strangely Washington State on the west coast of the USA.

Description:
This herbaceous perennial plant is about 15-20cm tall. It consists of a rosette of basal leaves spanning about 15cm across. These basal leaves are greyish green to green and glabrous.
