Dierama nixonianum

Dierama nixonianum

There are 44 species of Dieramas and all are native to Africa and include Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Congo, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. Dieramas require good, well drained soil with ample moisture during the spring and summer months. They prefer full sun however in hot climates afternoon shade is a must. New corms take about 12 months to settle in before flowering. They resent being disturbed so if they are to be divided or replanted it is best to do this during the summer straight after flowering.
