Description and Distribution
This miniature iris grows in the Great Lakes Region between Canada and the USA. It has very small and thin, shallow, yellow rhizomes or underground stems. The slender rhizomes produce fans of flattened leaves that reach a height of about 15cm. The leaves are light green and narrow. Showy, deep blue flowers are produced singly on short stems, below the height of the leaves.
