Habitat:
It does well in gravelly soils in full sun.

Description and Distribution
A variable dwarf species that can range in colour from yellow to blue, purple to red purple. Colour generally relates to the particular area of origin. One flower per stem, however, as the plant matures it produces numerous flowering stems. This species can be found in Austria through eastern Europe and the Balkans, Ukraine, southern Russia, and the Caucasus into Turkey.
