Rose-pink, fuchsia / magenta shading, mauve shading, ages to lilac . Visible stamens. Strong fragrance. Medium, semi-double to double, borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, cupped bloom form. Once-blooming in spring.
Developed by crossing R. gallica and a hybrid China. Bred by Charles or Hyppolyte (grandson of Charles) Duval in France before 1846.
We have not seen this one for awhile, so may be worth trying the larger suppliers.
